Bulgaria and Türkiye

After the fall of the Communist regime in 1989, Bulgaria embarked on a transformative journey, adopting a new constitution in 1991 and transitioning into a democratic republic. Since then, it has made significant strides in modernizing its economy and consolidating its democratic institutions. In 2004, Bulgaria joined NATO, followed by its accession to the European Union in 2007, further solidifying its place on the global stage.

Situated at the crossroads between East and West in Europe, Bulgaria holds a pivotal position as an important trading partner for numerous EU countries and international counterparts. The country's strategic location, coupled with its investments in infrastructure, has bolstered its capacity to support exports. For many years, Bulgaria and Türkiye have nurtured strong economic ties, building upon a longstanding history of cooperation and trade. The two countries have fostered bilateral relations through a series of agreements, reinforcing economic collaboration. Türkiye stands as one of Bulgaria's key trading partners, and bilateral trade has experienced significant growth, paving the way for expanded business opportunities between the two nations.

Chemicals, electronic equipment, metal products, and foodstuffs are among Bulgaria's major exports to Türkiye, while Türkiye reciprocates with manufactured goods, foodstuffs, and automotive products. In addition to trade, Bulgaria and Türkiye also engage in cooperative ventures encompassing energy, infrastructure, and information technology, further strengthening their economic partnership.
